Air Foil Analysis

Project Goals:
  • Design an air foil in SolidWorks that could be placed onto a car and measure the potential down force generated by the wing.
  • Gain a better understanding of flow and design analysis.
Design Process:
  • Using my research of race car wings I made a design in Solidworks.
  • After the design was complete in Solidworks the design was saved as a STEP file so it could be exported.
  • I imported the wing design into ANSYS Fluid Flow simulation and create a flow domain.
  • Wing cross section to the right with dimensions in meters.
Finished Project:
  • The design was successful and theoretically generated 11,153Newtons(2,507pounds) of down force at 223 miles per hour.
